On His Own supplemented for Gold Cup - Cheltenham Festival 2014

The ten-year-old had been regarded as more likely to go for the Grand National prior to his recent success in the Bobbyjo Chase but connections have elected to tackle Friday’s Grade 1 prize. Mullins finished second last year with Sir Des Champs but that horse was ruled out through injury and On His Own has shown improved form this season. 

The ten-year-old has failed to complete in the past two Grand Nationals but was going particularly well when falling at Bechers on the second circuit in 2012. That convinced Mullins to train him for the race again last season but he was well beaten when parting company with Ruby Walsh at the 25th fence. Read more here
